| This tutorial will give a step-by-step
instruction on how to start The Legacy Challenge.
Legacy Challenge Tutorial
Your first step is to choose a neighborhood where you want to build your
Legacy. This can be any of the Maxis-made ones, or any custom neighborhood
that you have built or imported from SC4. This neighborhood can be completely
barren of any other Sims, or filled to the brim with other families. The
choice is yours. For the purpose of this tutorial, I will be selecting
Pleasantville.
Once inside your neighborhood, click on the house tab, followed by the
plot tab. A list of different sized blank plots should appear. Choose
the one on the bottom right. It should read “5X5.” Choose
a spot for your plot anywhere in the neighborhood; just make sure it can
fit. Designate the plot as “residential.”
The next step is to create your founder. The rules state that you can
use CAS or body shop to do this. Because I’m not as familiar with
body shop, we’ll use Create-A-Sim. Click on ‘create new family.’
After the new-Sim screen finishes loading, type in the family name. Choose
a name that you like, as you will be seeing it for the next ten generations.
Note that you don’t have to make the family name “Legacy”
if you don’t want to.
When it comes to your founder, there is only one restriction. That is
that they must be an adult. Beyond that you are free to choose whatever
you want your founder to be like. You can make a male or a female, any
skin tone, any set of clothes, any style and color of hair, makeup, facial
structure, etc. Any and all custom content is allowed when making your
creator, as well as dressing future Sims in the family. Once your founder
looks right, choose their aspiration, any aspiration you want. Next, assign
personality points however you want. If you haven’t done so already,
give them a first name and you’re ready to go. After creating your
founder, finalize the family.Your founder MUST start out alone, so do
not add any other Sims to the family in the create-a-Sim screen.
When you return to the neighborhood view, your Legacy founder should already
be on your mouse pointer. Move over to the empty 5X5 lot you created earlier
and click on it. A screen should pop up asking if you wish to move in,
and telling you the cost of the land. Click the check mark and wait for
your Legacy family to load up.
You’ll zoom in to see your founder standing in the vast open and
empty plot. With only $4800 in your starting bankroll, this first generation
is going to be really tough, but who said starting a Legacy was easy?
The next chapter will explain how to earn Legacy points, and how to keep
track of them.
