The Legacy Challenge: University

If you own The Sims 2: University and have it installed on your copy of The Sims2, use this modulue. This will modify the Core Legacy Challenge rules and update them for University.

Starting out

You have a new option for starting your founder. Rather than making him or her an adult, you may choose to start your founder as a young adult. You must still use CAS or bodyshop to create them, and with only $500 to their name, it is unlikely they may start in any place other than a dorm.

When your founder reaches the end of sophomore year and has the option to change aspirations, you MUST roll for a new aspiration as if the founder was a child a growing into a teenager. If the dice roll the same aspiration your founder had, simply keep that one.

Once your founder graduates college, place them alone on a blank 5X5 lot as if the founder was created as an adult.

Rules updates

University gives you the option of moving Sims directly into other households from the neighborhood level. You may not move any Sims into the Legacy household in this fashion, with two exceptions. Legacy family members who have gone to college and graduated (or dropped out) may be moved directly back into their houses to re-join the family. You may also move other Sims, who have graduated, into the Legacy Household. You must move them in directly from the sim bin after graduation. If they join any household other than the Legacy one, they may not move in. This is so College buddies and sweethearts can join and add to the Legacy Family. If it is possible, invite the sim to join the household before they graduate (however there is a known bug that sometimes prevents this)

You may send teen townies and NPCs to college. It is now possible to get NPC points from the former teen NPCs once they have a chance to go to college.

Dicing for Aspirations:

In addition to rolling for a child sim's aspiration when they become a teen. Sims can now change their aspiration at the end of their sophomore year. With the exception of a Young Adult founder (who MUST roll the dice for a new aspiration) you can choose to change your sim's aspiration or keep it the way it is. If you do choose to change the aspiration, you MUST roll for it.

When you have a sim in a dorm room, you may only sell off the furniture in their room. You may not sell off all the furniture in the other dorms.

The Ressurect-O-Nomitorn

Because Sims brought back from the dead are added to the Legacy Family, you may not resurrect visiting player-Sims who happen to die on your lot. Family members, visiting Townies and NPCs may be resurrected. Don't confuse this with pleading with the Grim Reaper; you may do that for any Sim who dies on the lot.

Points Changes

Decrease the award for platinum graves from 1 point per grave to 1/2 point per grave

New Bonus Points

Scholarship Bonuses

1/2 a point if a teen earns $9500-$10,999 in scholarships
1 point if a teen earns $11,000-$12,499 in scholarships
1 ½ points if a teen earns $12,500-$13,999 in scholarships.
2 points if a teen earns $14,000 in scholarships. (The highest possible amount.)

A teenager does not need to be the heir or heiress to claim this bonus.
A teenager does not have to attend college to claim this bonus.

College Bonus Points

A total of three points can be gained at college. ONLY your heir or heiress can earn these points. Your founder may also earn these points if he or she started as a young adult. You may send the heir or heiress’s siblings to college, but they do not earn any points for their efforts. .

1 point for graduating with a Summa Cum Laude (4.0 GPA, no less)
1 point for having 15 friends or more at graduation (they don’t need to be best friends)
1 point for having a net worth greater than $20,000 upon leaving college.

-1 point if your heir(ess) drops out of college or is expelled.

The College Penalty

Every time a Sim is added back to the Legacy household, they bring at least $20,000 with them. This inflates your household net worth and thus increases your wealth score without actually having to work for it. To balance this out, for every 5 Sims that join your Legacy household from college, subtract 1 point.

Other new bonuses

2 points if you never use the elixir of life on any Sims
1 point if the only elixir you ever use is produced by the cow plant
You are still allowed to use the elixir of life, and as much of it as you want. These points are just to reward players who abstain from using it.

2 points for founding a Greek house on campus, and having every heir or heiress attend it. If your founder starts out as a young adult, they must found the Greek house. If the founder started as a normal adult, the 2nd generation heir or heiress must found the Greek house.

1 point for resurrecting Townie or NPCs with the Ressurect-O-Nomitorn at $10,000 simoleans. You must spend all $10,000 to get this point.

 !    Rule Reasonings

1. The reason YA founders MUST roll in the middle of college for their aspiration is a way of payment for all the advantages college grants. A college graduate founder has a huge advantage over their non-graduate counterpart. The chance that their aspiration will be something other than one your want is a small price to pay for such a boost in the begining.

2. Because lifetime wants make a platium death very easy, the bonus for platinum graves has been cut in half.

3. The college penalty is in place to prevent the wealth score from growing too large when graduates re-join the family. Each graduate brings back $20,000. Five graduates would bring back $100,000, gaining you a legacy point for wealth. Thus every five graduates you bring home gives you a -1 penalty to cancel out the 1 point gained for wealth.
